The section also discusses their effect on isolation and switching and on the responsibilities of designers, suppliers, installers and users. Some of these Regulations have now been updated, as noted elsewhere in this book. 

Section 11.3 indicates that it is acceptable to use the fuse carrier in TN systems as the isolation and switching device, subject to a limiting current of 16 A. A number of incidents occur when street hghting personnel insert fuses on to circuits with short circuit faults, leading to flashover burn injuries. It is a wise precaution for circuits that have been subjected to maintenance activity or possible physical damage to be tested to ensure that they are fault-free before inserting the fuse. 

A person operating an electrically driven machine must have access to an emergency stop switch so that the machine can be stopped by that person in an emergency. See also 132.15 Isolation and switching below.
