Iron compounds Magnesium carbonate

Particulates coEected in foundry atmospheres have been found to contain compounds of 2inc, copper, lead, iron, aluminum, magnesium, and sEicon as weE as carbon and oEy material. The specific composition and concentration of any smoke depends on the composition of the material being melted and on the melting and pouring practice. [Pg.248]

Calcium oxide is commercially obtained from limestone. The carbonate is roasted in a shaft or rotary khn at temperatures below 1,200°C untd aU CO2 is driven off. The compound is obtained as either technical, refractory or agricultural grade product. The commercial product usually contains 90 to 95% free CaO. The impurities are mostly calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide, iron oxide and aluminum oxide. [Pg.171]

X-ray Diffraction Analysis. The inorganic components of paper are the most suitable ones for quantitative X-ray diffraction analysis. Most of these compounds are minerals and are present as fillers, coatings and pigments (often whiteners) which are added to improve the properties of the paper. Examples of compounds commonly added to paper are alumina, aluminum silicate, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, calcium sul-foaluminate, iron oxide, magnesium silicate, silica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and zinc sulfide (28). Some of these, e.g., calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide, may be present in any of... [Pg.70]

Special considerations presence of zinc, copper, iron and nickel compounds accelerated dehydrochlorination combination of basic magnesium carbonate and aluminum hydroxide is used as flame retardant and smoke supressant chlorinated polyethylene adsorbs on the surface of titanium dioxide forming a layer 1-20 nm thick depending on the aciii/base interaction parameter of titanium dioxide ... [Pg.651]

The vast majority of organic compounds contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. Other t es of atoms can be included to form even more compounds. These can contain atoms like phosphorus, sulphur (e.g. thiamine, vitamin B ), magnesium (e.g. chlorophyll) and iron (e.g. haemoglobin). [Pg.21]

Chemically, CKD has a composition similar to conventional Portland cement [88-98]. The principal constituents are compounds of hme, iron, sihca and alumina. The free Hme content of LKD can be significantly higher than that of CKD (up to about 40%), with calcium and magnesium carbonates as the principal mineral constituents. There is very little, if any, free lime or free magnesia content in stockpiled CKD and LKD that has been ejq)osed to the environment for long periods. [Pg.98]
