All the methods of obtaining information via the Internet presented above carry one risk - dead links. Although a search term may be found by a search engine in its own website-metadata database, the original link to the website could be broken and the information is lost. MeSH MeSH is a huge controlled vocabulary (or metadata system) for the purpose of indexing journal articles and books in the life sciences. Created and updated by the US NLM, it is used by the MEDLINE/PubMed article database and by NLM s catalog of book holdings. MeSH can be browsed and downloaded flee of charge on the Internet. The yearly printed version was discontinued in 2007.
