Do not attempt to tamper with or make any adjustments or repairs to door control panel, safety interlock switches or any other part of the oven. Repairs should be done by qualified service personnel only. [Pg.46]

A switch used on guard doors that is used to detect if the door is opened while the machine is running, and uses a coded actuator to prevent intentional defeat. Safety interlock switches use positive opening contacts, which ensure that the closed switching contact is forced open when the guard is opened, without reliance upon spring action. [Pg.261]

A typical molding cycle will not start until a number of interlock conditions are satisfied. While the interlock conditions vary with the machine, the machine will not enter semiautomatic or automatic mode in the absence of these interlock conditions. Generally, the gate (operator guard door) must be closed and the gate safety (interlock) switches tripped. In hydraulic machines, the front gate has three switches (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) whereas the rear gate usually has one or more electrical limit switches. The electrical interlocks are usually electrical limit switches. When tripped, the hydrauHc interlock pre-... [Pg.419]

Microwave ovens are now being used in chemistry labs as a source of heat. These ovens produce radiation at 2.54 GHz. Federal standards limit the amount of radiation that can leak from an oven to levels far below those known to harm people. The only hazards associated with these ovens are the problems of arcing if a metal object is placed inside or the oven door interlock switch is damaged or overridden, which would allow the oven to generate radiation while the door is open. [Pg.319]

An accident involving a dumbwaiter in a restaurant illustrates the importance of safeguards. The dumbwaiter moved food and dishes from the kitchen on a lower level to the dining room above. Employees locked out the interlock switches linked to the access doors. That left doors open. One employee stuck his head in the opening to see if the dumbwaiter was coming. His head became crushed between the door opening and the moving car. He died from the injuries. [Pg.213]

Valves and pressure meters are installed on the inlet lines to the tube to permit adjustment of flow and measurement of pressure drop, respectively. A pressure meter and check valve are employed in the outlet line. In addition, a flow meter, sized in accordance with the tube data sheet, and a thermometer are included in the outlet line of each coolant course. These flow meters are equipped with automatic interlock switches, wired into the system electrical controls, so that the tube will be completely deenergized in the event of a loss of coolant flow in any one of the coolant passages. In some tubes, filament power alone is sufficient to damage the tube structirre in the absence of proper water flow. [Pg.525]
