Insecticidal admixtures

For volume production of an aerosol fog of small particle size, on a large scale (suited to indoor use), the thermal aerosol fog generators appear to be very efficient. The Science Service experiments were mostly with this type. Two principal varieties have been developed. One discharges the insecticide solution or suspension as a relatively coarse spray into a jet of superheated steam delivered by a flash boiler of the tubular coil t3rpe. The other discharges that insecticide solution or suspension as a relatively coarse spray into a blast of hot gas emerging from a combustion chamber. The temperature is regulated by the controlled admixture of cold air. [Pg.61]

Of course, the discovery of a new quality of an old product does not make the product itself patentable, but invention may be claimed in a new process of using the product—for example, in applying it to vegetation as an insecticide or in a new composition of matter involving its admixture with a carrier which makes it suitable for the novel purpose 11). [Pg.111]

Piperonyl hu 10Aide (PBO) is primarily used as a synergist in combination with natural pyrethrins or pyrethroids in space spray, residual and admixture products for the control of insect pests in or around domestic and commercial premises, especially food preparation areas. The suitability of PBO for (his purpose has been proven over many decades of study and widespread practical use. The main attributes oflhe compound which have ensured this long-las ting utilization in urban pest control procedures are summarized below. The beneficial effect that PBO has on insects showing resistance to insecticides is referred to in Chapters 12, 13 and 19 of this volume. [Pg.239]
