Inorganic aqueous chemical systems

Some results of application of theoretical models to trace metal speciation were presented in the section on metal-inorganic interactions (tables 2 and 3) a collection of papers dealing with chemical modelling in aqueous systems, including speciation, sorption, solubility and kinetics was edited by 3enne (1979). Recently Nordstrom and Ball (198 0 summarized 58 aqueous chemical equilibrium computer programs of which 19 were dealing with trace metals. [Pg.16]

This definition of CBCs was established by Della Roy and Rustum Roy [6,20,21]. While Della Roy emphasized formation of modified conventional hydraulic cements, Rusmm Roy used CBC to mean formation of more general ceramics made at room temperature by techniques such as ultrasonic signals in aqueous phosphate systems. We extend this generalization further to include all inorganic materials that are consolidated into a hard mass by chemical reactions and not by sintering. [Pg.8]

There are numerous chemical dosimeters based on the radiolysis of chemical conqrounds, both organic and inorganic. An illustrative example is the CHCI3 dosimeter. This is a two-phase aqueous-organic system. Radiation produces HCl which changes the pH of the almost neutral aqueous phase as shown by the color change of a pH indicator. This dosimeter is suitable only for rather high doses, 10 - 10 Gy. [Pg.184]

From his initial work on the studies of solvent properties of non-aqueous solvents and later on the measurement of ultrasonic velocity, Prof. Pankaj switched over to sono-chemical studies in aqueous solutions involving inorganic systems, after his European Community Post-Doctoral Fellowship (1990 - 91) at the Department of Physics,... [Pg.414]

Solvent extraction is used in nnmerons chemical industries to produce pure chemical compounds ranging from pharmaceuticals and biomedicals to heavy organics and metals, in analytical chemistry and in environmental waste purification. The scientific explanation of the distribution ratios observed is based on the fundamental physical chemistry of solute-solvent interaction, activity factors of the solutes in the pure phases, aqueous complexation, and complex-adduct interactions. Most university training provides only elementary knowledge about these fields, which is unsatisfactory from a fundamental chemical standpoint, as well as for industrial development and for protection of environmental systems. Solvent extraction uses are important in organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, and in chemical engineering, theoretical as well as practical in this book we try to cover most of these important fields. [Pg.12]
