Injection molding machine maintenance

The Shotscope system allows injection molders to maximize their productivity by providing the tools necessary to schedule mold and machine resources efficiently and also to monitor the status and efficiency of any mold/machine combination. By monitoring the efficiency of a given mold/machine combination, molders can schedule jobs based on a number of criteria, including minimum cycle times, highest production yields, etc. Users also can define periodic maintenance... 

Materials losses are typically 1-2% and mainly arise from contaminated waste generated during startup, maintenance, and machine pnrging. For injection molding there is also a loss arising from the removal of flashing and sprues such waste can only sometimes be recycled back into the process. 

For the basic compression, transfer, and injection molding processes, a wide variety of mold types may be considered. Decisions as to the optimum type will often be based on the production volume anticipated and the allowable final part cost, including mold maintenance and amortization costs and hourly cost rates for molding machine and labor. 

K control must be exercised from anywhere, apart from screw penetration, then most molders will go for line pressure control as this is easier, simpler and the system is less prone to damage it is also virtually maintenance free. The use of mold parting, which occurs on injection, is now a commercial option. This is a very easy system to fit as, no machining is required as the sensor location is on the outside of the mold. However, it is probable that with the development of suitable nozzle pressure transducers that, control will be exercised in future from this part of the machine.
