INJECT trial

The steam stimulation process was discovered by accident in the Mene Grande Tar Sands, Venezuela, in 1959. During a steam injection trial, it was decided to relieve the pressure from the injection well by backflowing the well. When this was done, a very high oil production rate was observed. Since this discovery, maity fields have been placed on steam stimulation. 

Injection trials by STRACK using plastics with contrasting colours enabled the melt cross-section in the channel to be studied, and the thickness and lie of the liquid core to be determined. It transpired that with a gap width of 6 mm ...

One of the early vaccine candidates was directed against sporo2oites, the form of the parasites that is first injected into the host by a mosquito. With recent development of recombinant techniques, several circumsporo2oite proteins or its related peptides were proposed as the vaccine candidates. Clinical trials have been carried out. The vaccines were immunogenic, but did not provide sufficient protective efficacy (90,91). 

Additive inhibitors have been developed to reduce the contaminant coke produced through nickel-cataly2ed reactions. These inhibitors are injected into the feed stream going to the catalytic cracker. The additive forms a nickel complex that deposits the nickel on the catalyst in a less catalyticaHy active state. The first such additive was an antimony compound developed and first used in 1976 by Phillips Petroleum. The use of the antimony additive reportedly reduced coke yields by 15% in a commercial trial (17). 

Plastics are no different in this respect than other materials. If steel, aluminum, and ceramics were to be made into a different complex shapes and no prior history on their behavior for that processing shape existed, a period of trial and error would be required to ensure their meeting the required measurements. If relevant processing information or experience did exist, it would be possible for these metallic (or plastic) products to meet the requirements with the first product produced. Experience on new steel shapes always took trial and error time that included different shaped high pressure hydraulic steel cylinders that failed in service when used in a new injection molding hydraulically operating machine (author s experience). 

The first study to demonstrate the activity of enfuvirtide in HIV-infected patients (Kilby et al. 1998) showed that patients receiving the maximum 100 mg intravenous dose had maximum median declines in HIV-1 RNA of -1.96 logjo copies/mL through 14 days. Several additional studies (Kilby et al. 2002 Lalezari et al. 2003a, b) further demonstrated the safety and efficacy of enfuvirtide and led to the selection of twice-daily subcutaneous injections of a 90 mg nominal dose for testing in the TORO (T-20 vs. optimized regimen only) pivotal clinical trials. 

For a number of liposome preparations—both injectables and locally administered products—the therapeutic advantages over existing formulations have been proven in animal models clinical trials with liposome preparations are now under way. So far, clinical studies showed no significant toxic effects which could be ascribed to the lipid components of the liposomes used.
