If a vesicant is prescribed as an infusion, it is given through a central line only and checked every 1 to 2 hours. The nurse keeps an extravasation kit containing all materials necessary to manage an extravasation available, along with the extravasation policy and procedure guidelines. 

McKee s compendium was published by the state board in 1952. After the medication has infused over 1 hour, the peak level is drawn 30 minutes to an hour later, depending on hospital policy.

When infusing a high-risk medication, require a second clinician to perform an independent double check of infusion pump settings according to your facility s policy. 

If the infusion pumps at your facility contain a drug library feature, use it according to facility policy. 

Don t rely solely on the pump to identify problems. Monitor the patient and infusion according to nursing best practices and your facility s policies and procedures. 

The Indian government was credited for infusing life into the Indian pharmaceutical industry through industrial and regulatory policy intervention, and the success of the Indian firms made these interventions a recipe for pharmaceutical industrial development in other emerging countries (see also Chapter 10).
