Influence transits

Irradiation of long narrowband RF-pulses with frequency offsets between 1 and 20 kHz relative to the resonance frequency of the free protons selectively influences transitions which correspond to the slopes of the broad resonance lines from the bound pool of spins. Therefore, only the spins of protons with restricted motion are saturated, whereas the free protons remain unaffected (e.g., see Refs. 13 and 43). 

Laxative effect. Seed hull, taken orally by adults at a dose of 7 g/person, increased weekly fecal mass without influencing transit time or frequency . Seedcoat, administered orally to 80 patients at a dose of 6.4 g/person three times daily, was active in a blinded placebo controlled study of efficacy of extract in treatment of irritable bowel syndrome " . Placing the seeds in water increased their volume, 90% alcohol produced a decrease in volume to normal seed size, and linseed oil had no effect on volume. Dried seed powder, administered orally to 35 patients with chronic constipation at a dose of 50 mg/person, was active in a controlled, double-blind study " . Whether changes in the relative importance of bond making and breaking, as in solvolyses of acyl chlorides, are to be regarded as changes in reaction mechanism is a matter of opinion, but clearly micelles, like any other reaction medium, can influence transition-state structure. Therefore, although values of k+/k can be considered as indicative of mechanism , the conclusions apply only to reactions taking place at micellar surfaces. However, these surfaces are water-rich, so the transition-state structures are expected to be similar to those in water. 

Since MD allowed transitions are relatively independent of the geometry surrounding the lanthanide ions, both ligand identity as well as coordination polyhedra do not influence transition intensity appreciably.
