Industrial hygiene standards for lead

The threshold limit values (TLV) in the UK for a time-weighted average (TWA) (TLV-TWA) over an 8 h shift are as follows  

Types of lead work where there is liable to be significant exposure to lead (unless adequate controls are provided) 

Examples of industries and processes where such work could be carried out 

High temperature lead work (above 500° C) E.g. lead smelting, melting, refining, casting and recovery processes 

Work with lead compounds which gives rise to lead dust in air.
