INDEX starting process

The five processes are not really independent. This is well illustrated in Fig. 2. The symbols I, II, III, IV, V under each group of isomers give the number of Berry steps needed to reach them from 12, considered as the starting isomer. However, if one performs one P2 step, it is easy to convince oneself that one reaches also the six isomers of group 11 For this reason the symbols I, III,... etc., refer also to the index of the process needed to reach the corresponding groups in one step. The only difference is that multiple steps allow for a wider variety of paths, because one can come back to the starting point. [Pg.49]

Optical fibres composed of plastics are also transparent in the visible spectral region but optical losses reach 102 - 103 dB/km13. Their refractive index varies from 1.35 to 1.6 depending on the kind of polymer used (e.g. polymethymethacrylate PMMA -1.49). The chemical resistance is much worse than that of silica fibres and thermal stability is incomparable. On the other hand, low temperature processes of plastic fibre preparation allow us mix the starting polymer with organic dyes which enables the production of luminescent fibres suitable e.g. for fluorescence-based sensing13. [Pg.65]

In the Colour Index both conventional sulphur dyes and their leuco counterparts are allocated the same Cl constitution number a different number is given to the related solubilised version. Thus, for example, Cl Sulphur Black 1 and Cl Leuco Sulphur Black 1 have the reference Cl 53185 whereas Cl Solubilised Sulphur Black 1 appears under Cl 53186. Because of the complexity of the final products, sulphur dyes are classified according to the chemical structure of the organic starting material that predominates in the manufacturing process. Typical intermediates include aromatic amines, with or without nitro and phenolic groups, and diphenylamine derivatives. [Pg.323]

Toxicity studies should be designed not only to identify a safe dose, but also a toxic dose(s) to anticipate the product s safety and to better define the therapeutic index in humans. Specific product considerations that may complicate the process of defining a toxic dose may include limits based on formulation, lack of significant systemic absorption, or the amount of the product available. The lack of significant toxicity in animals does not necessarily mean that the product is safe. The margin of safety for the initial starting dose, however, will likely be adequate. [Pg.413]

The correlation between the TEARS assay and MDA dnring oxidation of edible oils may be complicated by the presence of tocopherols (e.g. Vitamin E, 21) . An evaluation was carried of MDA, determined by an independent method , and TEARS as indices for direct oxygen uptake of edible oils and unsatnrated fatty acids. The linear increase of MDA and TEARS with oxygen consumption of soybean oil, in a closed vessel at 170 °C, stops when the latter value reaches 500 p.molL, when both MDA and TEARS start to decrease on further O2 consumption. The same process carried out at 40 °C, using 2,2 -azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) (171) as initiator, shows linearity up to 1500 p,molL O2 consumption . A similar behavior is observed for nnsatnrated fatty acids snch as oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids . On the other hand, depletion of Vitamin E (a-tocopherol, 21) and its analogs y- and 5-tocopherol (172, 173) present in the oil show a linear dependence on O2 consumption of the oil, np to 1800 p,molL . This points to the consumption of these antioxidants, and especially 21, as a good index for the O2 uptake in oils at high temperature. The determination of the tocopherols is carried ont by HPLC-FLD (Xex = 295 nm, Ah = 325 nm) . ... [Pg.668]

SOPs relevant to basic systems and operations should be provided in a neatly arranged folder starting with the master validation plan, product, personnel, and process management. A comprehensive index should be attached. [Pg.48]

Corrosion, fouling, and deposition processes of some degree most probably will have been steadily taking place for some time prior to the evaluation being made. If an index or model is to be used, the makeup water source should always be the starting point and cycled-up cooling water composition calculated from this point (despite the problems of accurately assessing the cycled-up water pH). [Pg.118]
