There are millions of different precursors for thousands of different dmgs, making it impossible for me to list all of them. I will stick with the more commonly called for items. If you need to find something that I have not listed, look in the Merck Index or Chemical Abstracts to find a reference of where the synthesis of this precursor can be found. At the end of the formulas given here, I have listed some hints or ways to get good precursors out of over the counter medication, like cough syrup, asthma pills, motion sickness pills, etc. Some of these precursors are psychoactive as is, such as ephidrine.

Thrombosis in the dural sinuses or cerebral veins is much less common than cerebral arterial thromboembolism. It causes a variety of clinical syndromes, which often do not resemble stroke (Bousser and Ross Russell 1997). While ischemic arterial stroke and cerebral venous thrombosis share some causes (Southwick et al. 1986), others are specific to cerebral venous thrombosis (Table 29.1). A particularly high index of suspicion is required in women on the oral contraceptive pill (Saadatnia and Tajmirriahi 2007) and in the puerperium. In the past, cerebral venous thrombosis was strongly associated with otitis media and mastoiditis, lateral sinus thrombosis or otitic hydrocephalus, but the most common causes are now pregnancy and the puerperium, which cause 5-20% of the cerebral venous thrombosis in the developed world, the oral contraceptive pill, malignancy, dehydration, inflammatory disorders and hereditary coagulation disorders. No cause is found in around 20% of cases.

It may take the form of a pill-rolling movement of the thumb and index finger. The facial muscles are immobile and the gait is festinant.

Camarasa (45 =) reports a case of chronic dermatitis of the lips and of the thumb and index finger of the right hand. The patient was a male psychiatric nurse who with these fingers picked up the pills which he gave to the patients. Patch test reactions were positive to (1) Nemactil Rhodia or 8909 RP, i.e. cyano-3-(hydroxy-4-piperidine)-3-propyl-10-phenothiazine (2) Decentan Merck, i.e. 1 (2 -hydroxyethyl)-4(3-chloro-l 0-phenothia-zinyl) propyl-piperazine.
