Incineration from pulp sludge

Analysis of incineration flue gas from pulp sludge... [Pg.513]

Solid wastes represent the ultimate in mill residues and include the accumulated refuse of the mill and the sludges from primary and secondary effluent treatment. There is difficulty in removing water from the secondary sludge the primary and secondary sludges often are mixed to aid in water removal, which is important if the sludge is to be incinerated for disposal. The sludges from pulp and paper mills are handled mostly as landfill, and sometimes, if not toxic, they are spread for agricultural purposes. [Pg.1261]

J.F. Mullen (Dorr-Ohver luc.) reports that fluidized bed incinerators have been used for municipal sludge and industrial waste incineration since the early 1960s for a variety of wastes (petroleum tank bottoms, sludge from pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, and nylon manufacturing operations), waste plastics, waste oils, and solvents. Fluid beds were first considered for incinerating hazardous wastes in the 1980s. [Pg.1712]

Pyrolysis of Pulp and Paper Sludge. The filter cake containing about 80% moisture was supplied for the cracking reactor without predrying. Heavy oil was fed to the incinerator as the auxiliary fuel. This is different from the case of municipal refuse, but the combustible gas composition and calorific value, flue gas composition and ash were similar to that of municipal refuse. The chemical analysis of combustible gas and flue gas are shown in Tables IX and X. [Pg.513]
