In-cassette processing

Use more vigorous agitation, increasing the rate of fixation (this may not be possible with in-cassette processing, see below). [Pg.55]

If you are using in-cassette processing at home, you can remove the film from the cassette and wash and dry in the normal manner. If you happen to be traveling and staying in a motel or campground try using a method recommended by Ilford. [Pg.57]

Sample pooling is also used in a process called cassette assay in which samples are pooled from multiple (typically 5 or 6) dosing experiments.24-83 87-88 Hsieh et al.89 showed that one could pool the plasma from six NCEs into one sample per time point to reduce sample assay time. Kuo et al.88 used a similar sample pooling approach for NCEs dosed into rats. The advantage is that cassette assay requires fewer samples. Two disadvantages are the need to dilute samples and the difficult set-up. [Pg.210]

Pasted plates do not pass through a tunnel flash dryer. They are arranged vertically in cassettes with a small distance between them. The free access of air to all plates facilitates substantially all curing and drying processes. [Pg.403]

Cassettes use a short feed channel path length to reduce the feed channel pressure drop. Flat sheet membranes used in cassettes allow for a wide ranging selection of MWCOs in UF membranes, as well as various micrometer ratings inMF membranes. This broad selection is critical for the successful processing of different protein sizes required in the pharmaceutical industry. [Pg.408]

Historically, most of the applications of plasma have been for the batch treatment of discrete parts. However, continuous air-to-air or cassette-to-cassette processing is now becoming available. The major problems are not in the plasma part of the system, but rather in the vacuum seals around the material entering and leaving the plasma chamber. These problems are being solved and practical, continuous units are now available. Their primary use to date has been the treatment of continuous yam for the fabrication of composites. [Pg.230]

ABC transporter proteins are a ubiquitous family of proteins characterised by an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) motif (Chapter 42). These ATP-binding proteins belong to one of the largest families known to medical science. The bound ATP is hydrolysed in a process coupled to transport of their substrate. One such protein is the cholesterol transporter known as ABC-Al (not shown in Fig. 41.1). It is found in many tissues where its function is to transfer excess cholesterol to HDL particles. The HDL particles proceed to the liver for disposal. [Pg.90]

In-line processing system, closed-ended An in-line system with a load-lock chamber on each end. Often cassettes having multiple substrates can be loaded into the load-lock and then fed through the in-line system. See also In-line processing system, open-ended. [Pg.637]

Polaroid introduced Polavision, a Super-8-mm instant motion picture system, in 1977 (97). Polachrome CS 35-mm sHde film followed in 1982 (98), and a high contrast version, Polachrome HCP, appeared in 1987. Each of the films comprises a very fine additive color screen and an integral silver image transfer film. The Polavision system, which included a movie camera and a player that processed the exposed film and projected the movie, is no longer on the market. The Polavision film was provided in a sealed cassette, and the film was exposed, processed, viewed, and rewound for further viewing without leaving the cassette (97). [Pg.506]

Polachrome is provided in standard-size 35-mm cassettes. Its processing is carried out in a Polaroid Autoprocessor using a processing pack that contains a reagent pod and a strip sheet (98). [Pg.506]

The eukaryotic expression cassette is the part of an expression vector that enables production of a protein in a eukaryotic cell. The cassette consists of a eukaryotic promoter for mRNA transcription, the gene and an mRNA termination and processing signal (Poly-A signal). [Pg.486]
