Immortalizing gene

Haut, Mavis. The hidden library of Tanith Lee themes and subtexts from Dionysos to the Immortal Gene. Jefferson (NC) McFarland Co, 2001. viii, 216 p. ISBN 078641085X... [Pg.676]

Haematopoietic (and indeed other) stem cells are attractive potential gene therapy recipient cells because they are immortal. Successful introduction of the target gene into these cells should facilitate ongoing production of the gene product in mature blood cells, which are continually derived from the stem cell population. This would likely remove the requirement for repeat gene transfers to the affected individual. [Pg.440]

Estradiol represses GnRH gene expression in immortalized GT1 cells (Roy et al. 1999 Bowe et al. 2003) and may exert either stimulatory or inhibitory effects... [Pg.120]

The Clonetics cell line from Cambrex Bio Science represents a cultured human corneal epithelial model (order no. CMS-2015 Cambrex Bio Science, Walkersville, MD). The culture model was generated by isolation of cells from normal human corneal tissues. The cells were then infected with an amphotropic recombinant retrovirus containing HPV-16 E6/E7 genes to extend the useful cell life span. The Clonetics cell model is a very recent entry into the immortalized corneal cell line field, but it has been proved to be useful for toxicity testing as well as in vitro drug permeation studies so far. Because of its very recent introduction, further examinations have to be undertaken to... [Pg.293]
