Immobilizing agents

In biotransformation reactions, ILs can act as tunable solvents or immobilizing agents or additives. They can also be coupled to substrates or other reagents (e.g., acylating agents in Hpase-catalyzed transesterifications [62]). Recent examples of chosen applications are presented below. [Pg.107]

Phencyclidine (PCP), one of the arylcyclohexylamines. was developed and originally used as a general anesthetic for humans. Due to psychotic and hallucinogenic reactions, use of the drug for humans was discontinued. It is now used legally only in veterinary medicine as an animal immobilizing agent. [Pg.176]

SNA was originally synthesized and developed as an anesthetic agent for human use by Parke, Davis and Co. under the name Sernyl.13-15 its human use was soon abandoned, because It sometimes produced postoperative thought disturbances and agitation. It is currently used, under the name Sernylan, as an immobilizing agent in veterinary medicine. [Pg.53]

Data in Table IV show the permeabilizing effect of chitosan expressed in release of total proteins when chitosan was used as the immobilizing agent in complex coacervate capsules, but suggest low cell viability as measured by respiration. However, Beaumont and Knorr (10) reported that fresh weight of cells recovered at the end of a culture period in the growth medium is a better indicator of actual cell viability than respiration data. [Pg.74]

In enzyme-catalyzed reactions, parameters such as concentration of water, reaction temperature, pH, enzyme immobilizing agents, and the nature of any solvent may be of great importance. A brief description of each of these factors is given below. [Pg.1931]

PSYCHOTROPIC, and also a veterinary immobilizing agent. It is a drug of abuse, largely withdrawn from human clinical use. phencyclidine hydrochloride phencyclidine, phenelzine [ban, inn] (phenelzine sulfate [usan] Nardil ) is one of the hydrazine class and is an irreversible MONOAMINE-OXIDASE INHIBITOR (MAOl active against both A and 6) used as an ANTIDEPRESSANT. [Pg.218]

The following unusual example should be applicable in many similar cases. Preparations of a silica-gel-supported TAD derivative has been developed, and this immobilized agent was used for the separation of several mixtures of natural compounds (83JOC2654). For example, ergosterol can be effectively separated from cholesterol. This silica-gel-supported TAD was also used to remove the phase transfer catalyst Af-( , )-8,10-... [Pg.147]

Most battery types employed are immobilized or matrix electrolytes. Fine powders of boron nitride, lithium aluminate, and so on, are used as immobilizing agents and matrixes are manufactured from ceramic fabrics, such as boron nitride, stabilized zirconia, and so on. [Pg.119]

Sepharose 4B gave an immobilized agent which retained its activity 8... [Pg.118]

Many biopolymers arc known to bind metal ions strongly. Alginic acid used as the immobilizing agent also has a complexing ability with divalent metal ions. Many studies have been carried out on the application of AA to the aqueous phase separation of heavy metals, and the possibility of AA as the adsorbent material has been suggested [1-5]. HA-M comprises 20% AA on a dry weight basis. Therefore, it can be expected that AA plays an important role in metal adsorption by HA-M. [Pg.680]
