Images Subject

A problematic artifact associated with MRI arises when the imaged subject moves duriag acquisition of the / -space data. Such motion may result ia a discontiauity ia the frequency-encoded or phase-encoding direction data of / -space. When Fourier transformed, such a discontiauity causes a blurred band across the image corresponding to the object that moved. Such an artifact ia an image is referred to as a motion artifact.

As in tic, another method to vaUdate a chiral separation is to collect the individual peaks and subject them to some type of optical spectroscopy, such as, circular dichroism or optical rotary dispersion. Enantiomers have mirror image spectra (eg, the negative maxima for one enantiomer corresponds to the positive maxima for the other enantiomer). One problem with this approach is that the analytes are diluted in the mobile phase. Thus, the sample must be injected several times. The individual peaks must be collected and subsequently concentrated to obtain adequate concentrations for spectral analysis.

Because these do not involve photographic reduction and enlargement, the 1 1 repHcas maintain the fine detail and dimensional relationships of the original subjects. 

Shock-compression processes are encountered when material bodies are subjected to rapid impulsive loading, whose time of load application is short compared to the time for the body to respond inertially. The inertial responses are stress pulses propagating through the body to communicate the presence of loads to interior points. In our everyday experience, such loadings are the result of impact or explosion. To the untrained observer, such events evoke an image of utter chaos and confusion. Nevertheless, what is experienced by the human senses are the rigid-body effects the time and pressure resolution are not sufficient to sense the wave phenomena.
