Hydroxylamine reaction with amines

Reactions with Amines and Amides. Hydroxybenzaldehydes undergo the normal reactions with aUphatic and aromatic primary amines to form imines and Schiff bases reaction with hydroxylamine gives an oxime, reaction with hydrazines gives hydrazones, and reactions with semicarbazide give semicarbazones. The reaction of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde with hydroxylamine hydrochloride is a convenient method for the preparation of 4-cyanophenol (52,53). [Pg.505]

In addition to their reactions with amines, Zincke salts also combine with other nitrogen nucleophiles, providing various A -substituted pyridine derivatives. Pyridine A -oxides result from the reaction with hydroxylamine, as exemplified for the conversion of Zincke salt 38 to the A -oxide 39 Reactions of Zincke salts with hydrazine, meanwhile, lead... [Pg.361]

Thioamides (86) are more resistant to hydrolysis than the corresponding amides. By reaction with amines, hydroxylamine and hydrazine they tend to eliminate hydrogen sulfide to yield the imino derivatives (90)—(92) (Scheme 49). [Pg.143]

Aminoisoxazoles can be determined photometrically by reaction with sodium 1,2-naph-thoquinone-4-sulfonate and selective extraction of the resulting dye into CCI4 for absorbance measurements. This class of compound can be determined in the presence of sulfonamides, sulfanilamides, hydroxylamines and other select amines (74MI41610). [Pg.11]

The well-known reaction of a-alkyl-/3-ketoaldehydes and hydroxyl-amine has been applied to the elucidation of the structure of formyl-ation products of ketones the conclusions are, however, open to question. Some workers attempted to overcome the ambiguity of the reaction of j8-ketoaldehydes and hydroxylamine, which results in a mixture of 3- and 5-monosubstituted isoxazoles and thus considerably lowers the preparative value of the method, by using various derivatives of yS-ketoaldehydes, especially those of their enolic forms (jS-substituted vinylketones) investigated by Kochetkov et al. The use of readily available /3-chlorovinylketones (12) in the reaction with hydroxylamine represents a rather useful preparative method to synthesize monoalkylisoxazoles but again gives rise to a mixture of 3- (13) and 5-alkylisoxazoles (14). This is due to the attack... [Pg.369]

The addition of (E)- and (Z)-crotylboronates 7 to aldoximes 6 has been realized in good yield by performing the reaction under 3-6 x 10° Torr pressure10. The resulting hydroxylamines 8 can easily be reduced to yield the primary amines. The addition of E-l leads preferentially to the anh-diastereomcr 8, while (Z)-crotylboronate 7 shows a modest selectivity towards formation of the vyy -diastereomer 8 (same sense as in the reaction with aldehydes). Some effort has been made to elucidate the mechanism, but this is not yet well understood. [Pg.752]

The most widely employed methods for the synthesis of nitrones are the condensation of carbonyl compounds with A-hydroxylamines5 and the oxidation of A+V-di substituted hydroxylamines.5 9 Practical and reliable methods for the oxidation of more easily available secondary amines have become available only recently.10 11 12 13. These include reactions with stoichiometric oxidants not readily available, such as dimethyldioxirane10 or A-phenylsulfonyl-C-phenyloxaziridine,11 and oxidations with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by Na2W044 12 or Se02.13 All these methods suffer from limitations in scope and substrate tolerance. For example, oxidations with dimethyldioxirane seem to be limited to arylmethanamines and the above mentioned catalytic oxidations have been reported (and we have experienced as well) to give... [Pg.108]

Other nitrogen compounds, among them hydroxylamine, hydrazines, and amides (15-9), also add to alkenes. Even with amines, basic catalysts are sometimes used, so that RNH or R2N is the actual nucleophile. Tertiary amines (except those that are too bulky) add to Michael-type substrates in a reaction that is catalyzed by acids like HCl or HNO3 to give the corresponding quaternary ammonium salts. By modifying the catalyst with a so-called promoter (in this case vanadium oxide) it is possible to largely eliminate the intermediate. As Fig. 2.6 shows, the rate constant of the reaction from the hydroxylamine to the amine is much larger when the promoted catalyst is used, and thus the intermediate reacts instantaneously, resulting in a safer and environmentally friendlier process. [Pg.48]

TS-1 is a material that perfectly fits the definition of single-site catalyst discussed in the previous Section. It is an active and selective catalyst in a number of low-temperature oxidation reactions with aqueous H2O2 as the oxidant. Such reactions include phenol hydroxylation [9,17], olefin epoxida-tion [9,10,14,17,40], alkane oxidation [11,17,20], oxidation of ammonia to hydroxylamine [14,17,18], cyclohexanone ammoximation [8,17,18,41], conversion of secondary amines to dialkylhydroxylamines [8,17], and conversion of secondary alcohols to ketones [9,17], (see Fig. 1). Few oxidation reactions with ozone and oxygen as oxidants have been investigated. [Pg.40]

Recently, a new method for synthesis of tertiary amines 326 from iV,iV-dialkyl O-benzoyl hydroxylamines 325 was proposed.425 The protocol is based on the copper-catalyzed reaction of hydroxylamines 325 with dialkyl- and diarylzinc reagents (Scheme 166). It is noteworthy that alkyl- and phenylzinc halides also reacted with compounds 325, however, yields were significantly lower than those for ZnR2 (18-29% vs. 69-98%). [Pg.410]

Most of the synthetic approaches toward this ring system utilize N-amino pyridinium salts functionalized at the a-position with a carbonyl group. Thus, the amination of 2-(l,3-dioxolan-2-yl)pyridine with tosyl-hydroxylamine gave 78, whose reaction with urea in the presence of boron trifluoride-acetic acid gave 79, which gave the thermally unstable... [Pg.219]

The values of calculated activation energies and rate constants of the >NO reactions with chosen phenols and amines are given in Table 18.6. The hydroxylamine formed by the reaction of the nitroxyl radical with InH reacts with peroxyl radicals very rapidly (see Table 18.7). So, two reactions of chain termination occur in oxidized RH in the presence of >NO and InH and chain termination includes the following cycles of reactions. [Pg.632]

Moustafa and Ahmed reported the synthesis of isoxazoles [92,93]. These compounds are related to pyrazoles except that an oxygen replaces the amine nitrogen. Scheme 49 shows the synthesis of 182 from the corresponding chal-cone 183 by reaction with hydroxylamine. Although these compounds were not tested for cytotoxicity as tubulin binders, they were found to possess antibacterial and anti-fungal activity. [Pg.58]
