Hydroxy modifier

Acrylic acid was first attached to tlie hydroxy-modified solid support via an ester bond to yield 73. This was followed by a Michael addition to give the tertiary amine 74. Alkylation led to the quaternary ammonium salt 75, which is suitably predisposed for 3-eliniination induced by Huenig s base, thereby yielding the required tertiary amine. [Pg.61]

Alkylation of vanillin 158 with methyl 4-bromobutyrate and subsequent nitration afforded 159. Addition of the methyl group to the aldehyde was performed with the commercially available AlMes to yield 160 this could be crystallized directly from the crude reaction mixture after the three steps. After hydrolysis, the corresponding acid may be attached to a hydroxy-modified support as an ester. Acylation then results in the desired construct 157. [Pg.91]

Yet another modification of the corticoid nucleus fuses a heterocyclic ring on to ring D. The starting 16/3,17/3-epoxide can be prepared by a scheme analogous to that used to prepare the 9a-fluoro-l 1/3-hydroxy-modified steroids, namely... [Pg.117]

Polymer-based rocket propellants are generally referred to as composite propellants, and often identified by the elastomer used, eg, urethane propellants or carboxy- (CTPB) or hydroxy- (HTPB) terrninated polybutadiene propellants. The cross-linked polymers act as a viscoelastic matrix to provide mechanical strength, and as a fuel to react with the oxidizers present. Ammonium perchlorate and ammonium nitrate are the most common oxidizers used nitramines such as HMX or RDX may be added to react with the fuels and increase the impulse produced. Many other substances may be added including metallic fuels, plasticizers, stabilizers, catalysts, ballistic modifiers, and bonding agents. Typical components are Hsted in Table 1. [Pg.32]

The milder metal hydnde reagents are also used in stereoselective reductions Inclusion complexes of amine-borane reagent with cyclodexnins reduce ketones to opucally active alcohols, sometimes in modest enantiomeric excess [59] (equation 48). Diisobutylaluminum hydride modified by zmc bromide-MMA. A -tetra-methylethylenediamme (TMEDA) reduces a,a-difluoro-[i-hydroxy ketones to give predominantly erythro-2,2-difluoro-l,3-diols [60] (equation 49). The three isomers are formed on reduction with aluminum isopropoxide... [Pg.308]

Direct bromination readily yields the 6-bromo derivative (111), just as with uracil. Analogous chlorination and iodination requires the presence of alkalies and even then proceeds in low yield. The 6-chloro derivative (113) was also obtained by partial hydrolysis of the postulated 3,5,6-trichloro-l,2,4-triazine (e.g.. Section II,B,6). The 6-bromo derivative (5-bromo-6-azauracil) served as the starting substance for several other derivatives. It was converted to the amino derivative (114) by ammonium acetate which, by means of sodium nitrite in hydrochloric acid, yielded a mixture of 6-chloro and 6-hydroxy derivatives. A modified Schiemann reaction was not suitable for preparing the 6-fluoro derivative. The 6-hydroxy derivative (115) (an isomer of cyanuric acid and the most acidic substance of this group, pKa — 2.95) was more conveniently prepared by alkaline hydrolysis of the 6-amino derivative. Further the bromo derivative was reacted with ethanolamine to prepare the 6-(2-hydroxyethyl) derivative however, this could not be converted to the corresponding 2-chloroethyl derivative. Similarly, the dimethylamino, morpholino, and hydrazino derivatives were prepared from the 6-bromo com-pound. ... [Pg.230]
