Hydrogen, fuel cell technology

Currently there is an urgent need to develop hydrogen storage materials for mobile and stationary appHcations. This trend is accelerated by the hydrogen fuel cell technology that could, within the next decades, replace fossil fuel resources such as oil and gas. 

DaimlerChrysler had a fleet of more than 100 F-cell fuel cell cars called the F-Cell which were used for worldwide testing. They have also built 33 fuel cell buses for 10 European cities as well as Beijing and Perth. DaimlerChrysler has invested over 1 billion in hydrogen fuel cell technology. The fuel cell vehicle fleet is powered by Ballard stacks.

Ultimately, the decision to develop hydrogen fuel eell vehicles should be a business decisioa Assuming the price paid for gasoline will inctease and as the cost associated with fuel cell vehicle operation will decrease, a market opportunity will be created. The advancements currently being achieved in the development of hydrogen fuel cell technologies, as discussed in this article, shorten the time until that decision will be made.
