Humanized Hungary

Fig. 7. vs gp) mean values for bone collagens of herbivores and omnivores including humans from Great Britain, Hungary, Peru and Canada dating from the Neolithic to the mid-15th century AD (adapted from Reynard Hedges 2008). Error bars indicate one standard error of the mean of 10 to 15 samples per species. [Pg.153]

In Florida, 1,000 wells have been closed because of contamination. In Hungary 773 towns and villages have water that is unfit for human consumption and in Britain ten per cent of aquifers are polluted above the safety limits set by the WHO, and in parts of both Britain and the United States tap water cannot be given to newborn babies because of high nitrate levels. ... [Pg.2]

Until the 25th Act of 1998 on medicines for human use came into effect on January 1, 1999, registration and MA were two different legal categories in Hungary. This phenomenon is worth a more detailed explanation. [Pg.183]

Since 1988, local CTs have never been part of the NIP s registration process if the necessary clinical/safety data are submitted. Research CTs, however, are frequently performed for foreign sponsors. In 1995 and 1996, more than 100 such trials, mostly human phase II and III ones, were performed in Hungary. Human phase IV (mostly marketing) trials are also possible they have ranged from 50 to 60 annually. A trial is a human phase IV one if ... [Pg.195]

CTs authorized by the NIP (including human phase IV ones) may be inspected by the NIP GCP inspectors. Between 1994 and 1997, the former EU GCP was applied while in 1999 the International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) GCP is used. All the deficiencies found are communicated, both verbally and later on in writing, to the investigator. In the case of major deficiencies, their improvement is required. In the case of critical deficiencies, the applicant/sponsor may cdso be informed and the trial would not be accepted for registration purposes in Hungary. Moreover, within the framework of the Pharmaceutical Evaluation Report (PER) Scheme, foreign PER authorities may be informed about the noncompliance found. [Pg.196]

As a result, Hungary traditionally devotes only meagre resources to climate change issues in general. In a period when environmental ministries were all but overwhelmed by the tasks of EU accession, the climate change administration typically had one or two persons in 2003, when the EU ETS Directive appeared on their horizon. Though further manpower eventually became available for the implementation of emissions trading, the severe lack of human resources proved to be a constant impediment. [Pg.247]

Our knowledge of leaf protein can be traced back over 226 years (Rouelle, 1773) [5]. The method of processing-preserving leaf protein suitable for human consumption was first patented in 1927 by Ereky [6], and a quarter of a century later some widespread experiments were carried out in the field in England [5]. An entirely different, novel procedure, the VEPEX (Vegetable Protein Extract) method was elaborated and the first leaf protein plant in the world was set up in Hungary in 1972 [7] (Fig. 2). [Pg.155]

Stachybotryotoxicosis has been reported among farm workers in Russia, Yugoslavia, and Hungary.38,39 This disease is caused by the presence of a mold, Stachybotrys atra (S alternans), on the hay fed to domestic animals. A macrocyclic trichothecene (satratoxin) produced by the Stachybotrys species of the mold may be in part responsible for this toxicosis.40 The only literature citation on apparent human cases of stachybotryotoxicosis in the United States occurred in people living in a water-damaged house with a heavy infestation of S atra.41... [Pg.659]
