Human race future

In terms of time, for high temperature steels it is conventional to restrict extrapolation to a time factor of 3, although years of practical experience are allowing this to be extended as far as 10. ISO 2578 [4] recommends no more than a factor of 4, from 5,000 to 20,000 h. A maximum value of 100 (two orders of magnitude) is permitted for pipes with the restriction that the temperature difference is limited to 60 °C for polyolefins and to 25 °C for PVC. General advice is no more than a factor of 10. Figures 9.1 and 9.2 show instances of somewhat extreme prediction far into the future of the human race. 

I ve been interviewed countless times, but my favorite interviewer is David Jay Brown, who asked me questions for his book Conversations on the Edge of the Apocalypse The book includes some of the coolest thinkers of our time as they consider the future of the human race and the mystery of consciousness. David s interviewees included such luminaries as Noam Chomsky, Kary Mullis, Candace Pert, Robert Anton Wilson, Douglas Rushkofif, Paul Krassner, Bruce Sterling, Ray Kurzweil, Hans Moravec, John Mack, and Alex Grey.

Experimental evidence is accumulating to show that resistance can be altered and controlled, particularly by attention to pre-eruptive feeding (59). We acknowledge the views of those among us who favour a policy of isolation, and will retain it as an option should it appear the possessed are gaining the upper hand. A reasonable assumption. One hopes the future of the human race does not rest on a single misinterpreted sentence. 

I shall divide the area that I propose to cover into nine great stages and in a tenth I shall venture to offer some observations on the future destiny of the human race. 

This discovery was finally transmitted to the Greeks, that race which has exercised such a powerful and happy influence over the progress of humanity, to whom genius opened all the ways of truth and whom nature had prepared and fate destined to be the benefactor and guide of every nation in every age, an honour which up to that time no other people had shared. Nature and the concatenation of events seem to have reed amongst themselves to reserve this glory for her. But let us not seek to penetrate what the uncertain future still hides from our eyes. 

Our hopes for the future condition of the human race can be subsumed under three important heads the abolition of inequality between nations the progress of equality within a single people and the true perfection of man. Will all nations one day attain that state of civilisation which the most enlightened, the freest and the least burdened by prejudices, such as the French and the Anglo-Americans, have attained already Will the vast gulf that separates these peoples from the slavery of nations under the rule of monarchs, from the barbarism of African tribes, from the ignorance of savages, little by little disappear ... 

Among species for which cultural information can be taught and learned, the notion that memes have become powerful forces for survivability rivaling, or oven overshadowing, genes is not very far-fetched. It seems likely that the future of the human race will depend on its ability to discover new information and to transfer that information to others. This is the ultimate response to new environmental challenges.
