Slosson s Creative Chemistry (III, 1919) was one of the most successful books on chemistry published between World Wars I and II. After its first appearance in 1919, new editions followed in 1920, 1921,1930, and 1938. The last two were revised by Harrison E. Howe, editor of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Begun in 1909 as the Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Under Harrison E. Howe s editorship, the Journal began publication of separate News and Analytical editions in 1923 and 1929, respectively. Three research-oriented supplements on theoretical studies in chemical engineering and process and product research and development first appeared in 1962 these achieved independent status in 1965.
