Hormones selected human

A stmcturally related series of phenyfiiydrazones resulted ia the selection of compound A-007 [2675-35-6] (DEKK-TEC)(37) for the treatment of hormone-dependent tumors. A-007 is an antiestrogen that, ia contrast to tamoxifen, demonstrated inhibitory activity both ia the presence and absence of estradiol ia ZR-75-1 estrogen-dependent human breast cancer cells, and afforded more protection than tamoxifen ia the 7,12-dimethylbenz[i7]anthracene... 

Chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is extracted from human placentas. The actions of HCG are identical to those of the pituitary LH. The hormone is used to induce ovulation in anovulatory women. This drug is also used for the treatment of prepubertal cryptorchism (failure of the testes to descend into the scrotum) and in men to treat selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. 

The major circulating hormones that influence vascular smooth muscle tone are the catecholamines epinephrine and norepinephrine. These hormones are released from the adrenal medulla in response to sympathetic nervous stimulation. In humans, 80% of catecholamine secretion is epinephrine and 20% is norepinephrine. Stimulation of cy-adrenergic receptors causes vasoconstriction. The selective a,-adrenergic receptor antagonist, prazosin, is effective in management of hypertension because it causes arterial and venous smooth muscle to relax. 

This approach appears somewhat irrational and without much scientific merit, since many of these new molecules are minimally toxic or nontoxic by this sort of acute evaluation. As in the case of interferons or monoclonal antibodies, the toxic effects observed in humans might not be predicted from safety assessments in rodents. An appropriate test species should be selected. Is the rat or mouse the appropriate species to evaluate a species-specific rDNA protein such as human growth hormone or interferons, or would nonhuman primates be more suitable Does the nonhuman primate really offer any advantages There is some consensus that the nonhuman primate may be a more appropriate species for testing some rDNA human proteins. 

Comparative evaluation of anti-human thyroid stimulating hormone (hTSH) antibody, bound to the fifth-generation ammonia core (N5) or the fifth-generation ethylenediamine core (E5) dendrimer (1), did not show any differences in either the effective protein concentrations or the shape of the dose-dependent response curves (calibration curves) as determined from the recovery of standard controls. All the other experiments described here were thus carried out with the fifth-generation (i.e. dia. = 70 A) particles of ethylenediamine core (E5) de-ndrimers. The later particles were selected for their ability to be produced reproducibly on a large scale.
