Hoisting devices

The horizontal plate filter requires attention on a regular basis to safety devices and automation features that accompany modern filters. The space above the filter should have a hoisting device and sufficient headroom to lift the entire disc stack and move it horizontally to a location adjacent to the filter tank. It is recommended to have a special rig that will hold the plate stack for maintenance since the bigger ones may reach a length 3 meters or more. Space must also be allocated for the cover which may be either if it is hinged or removed. [Pg.196]

Column Davit A hoisting device attached by means of a socket to the top of fractionation columns. Used for handling relief valves, bubble trays, bubble caps, etc. [Pg.458]

In Polish mining, the first major accident caused by an over-travel event, which drew attention to the problem of emergency arresting of conveyances, was the failure of a skip hoisting device in a coal mine in Katowice. [Pg.292]

Hoisting devices have some of the same hazards as other materials handling equipment. Elevated materials can fall on people or items below. Structural failure can occur when loads exceed equipment capacity. Hoisting equipment may become unstable and tip over under certain loading or environmental conditions. Equipment or load failures are likely to cause damage, injury, or death. Operators may have limited visibility and need help to lift and position loads. [Pg.205]

Choker means a wire rope or synthetic fiber rigging assembly that is used to attach a load to a hoisting device. [Pg.654]

If available, the dynamic load specifications, e.g. of centrifuges or decanters, crushers and mills, sieve units etc., have to be taken into account. Finally, load specifications have to be made regarding the hoisting devices, roof cranes, general floor load etc. provided in the plant... [Pg.150]

Skip Hoists These hoists, which operate on a batch rather than continuous principle, are not so widely used as in the past. However, for high lifts and extremely lumpy or hot materials, the skip hoist is still an economical and practical device. [Pg.1922]

Thyristors have been replacing saturable reactors they are small, efficient, and easily controlled by a wide variety of control systems. A modern crane control drive uses fixed secondary resistors and two sets of primaiy thyristors (one set for hoist, one for lower). With tachometer feedback for speed sensing, the control for the motor provides speed regulation and torque hmiting in both directions, all with static-devices. A wide variety of control systems is possible the control should be designed for the specific application. [Pg.2486]

ANSI Z-49.1,10.8.3.8 CGA G-1,5.2.3 29CFR1910.253(b)(5)(ii)(A) 29CFR1926.350(a)(2) 4.5.30 When using a crane, derrick, etc. to transport cylinders, a cradle, boat, pallet, slingboard or other suitable platform shall be used. Compressed gas cylinders shall be secured to the lifting device before they are hoisted. [Pg.224]

Do not violate any statutory regulations—lifting devices, chain pulley blocks, and hoisting cranes shall be regularly tested as per instructions. [Pg.99]

For long-term use in mining hardware solutions are available which have already been completely developed both for drum hoists and multi-rope friction hoists. The devices are protected against contamination. [Pg.31]

The hoist described in this paper serves as a personnel hoist in a Swedish mine. It is running in a dedicated shaft with fixed guides. The shaft has five levels, four of them underground. The underground levels have chairing devices to avoid vertical cage movement when persoimel enter or leave the 2-deck cage. [Pg.125]

The efficiency is a measure of useful output power or energy of a device or system. In this paper we will study the efficiency of electrical equipment and the total hoisting system for a mine hoist. The total efficiency for a mine hoist is defined as the gained potential energy divided by the total energy potential plus energy losses from both mechanical and electrical devices as in Equation 5. [Pg.166]

In practical terms, the typical production hoist duty cycle is of the order of 200-300 seconds. With an estimated motor time constant of 20 minutes, a steady state RMS calculation is a good approximation. Drive power equipment consisting of switching devices, heatsink assembly and copper bus have a shorter time constant. Typically a time constant of 5 minutes is used to more accurately approximate the heating in the drive power components and heatsinks. The hoist duty cycle length is the same order of magnitude as the time constant of certain drive power components, and so the steady state model typically used cannot accurately determine the cychcal thermal duty of these components. [Pg.196]
