HIT Matrix

HIT Matrix compares the charac-teristies of two seemingly unrelated produets or services to develop new ideas. What do you get when you eomhine the eharacteristics of a telephone and a computer The Internet. [Pg.104]

HIT, short for Heuristie Ideation Teehnique, was developed hy marketing professor Edward M. Tauber, who found that new products are typically a combination of characteristics from two or more existing products. HIT Matrix is a simple but beneficial tool to jumpstart your team s creativity in search of innovative ideas. [Pg.104]

In a HIT Matrix (Exhibit 16.1), list the characteristics from one item aeross the top, and the characteristies from the other item down the side. Then, pair one characteristic from each item until all eells are filled. [Pg.105]

The molecules hit by the fast atoms are destroyed in the collision and do not appear in the spectrum, whereas the molecules not directly hit (matrix and analyte) acquire enough energy to ionize and desorb from the target surface. Therefore, fast atom bombardment in a liquid matrix should allow desorption of the intact analyte molecule from the condensed phase. [Pg.281]

Figure 6.12 A fixed mouse lung was scanned with ditferent scan protocols and reconstructions were calculated at the same position. Different scan resolutions, related reconstruction times, and the required memory per slice (for half field of view reconstruction) are shown (a) 35 p,m/voxel, 500 x 500 x 16 hit matrix, 0.5 MB/sUce, 30 min volume acquisition time, 1 min hack projection time per slice, (b) 18 p,m/voxel, 1000 x 1000 X 16 hit matrix, 2 MB/slice, 90 min volume acquisition time, 2 min back projection time/slice. (c) 9 p,m/voxel, 2000 x 2000 x 16 bit matrix, 8MB/sUce, 270 min volume acquisition time, 7 min back projection time/slice. This procedure can be applied to most P2P mixes but is especially effective on the methods to follow. However, in super clean methods, such as the PdCl2 below, where lots of isosafrole is produced, the iso byproduct can interfere with crystal formation. Someone-Who-ls-Not-Strike once found that when an appreciable amount of isosafrole was formed to the detriment of MD-P2P, the oil screwed up the crystal matrix disallowing it to form. Confused, the chemist tried to rescue the uncrystallized oil from the aqueous solution by extracting out the oil to try other things. But when the solvent hit the solution, the P2P crystallized out. Go figure The... [Pg.58]

In place of the semicolons, we can also simply hit the return key as we generate the matrix. [Pg.218]

Some spectrometers are equipped with delayed extraction. Ions are accelerated from the target only 200 to 300 nsec after the laser beam hits the target. During the short delay, light matrix ions dissipate. This helps to avoid massive collisions during the acceleration between the large molecules and the matrix ions. [Pg.6]

There is a further application of the diagonal elements of the hat-matrix in full CV. By using the values hit from the OLS model estimated with all n objects, one can avoid to estimate OLS models for all subsets of size n — 1, because there exists the relation... [Pg.143]

Multiple Parallel Synthesis (MPS) is typically carried out in a plate containing a matrix of 8 x 12 wells. It is typical for each well to contain a different combination of reactants (say an acid and an amine). Since the number of outcomes is then restricted (to say 96 amides) it could reasonably be argued that a full analysis of individual spectra need not take place in order to validate the plate for further work. Indeed, it may well be that the plate is destined for high throughput (biological activity) screening, and only hits from that process would then warrant a more rigorous approach. [Pg.235]
