Histological sections

In these pictures, bright contrast comes from scattering of the acoustic waves by elastic homogeneities in the depth of the specimen. The elastic microstructure of botanical sections has also been studied (Kolodziejczyk et al. 1988).

There are many ways of testing a gold probe, but the most convincing is by using a known positive sample Therefore, this could be a histological section, an electron microscope specimen, or a dot-blot. Estimation of the concentration of the probe by optical density measurements is a good method to standardize the concentration of probes from one batch to another, but in addition, it is always preferable to test the performance of the probes on known positive samples.

Histological analyses were done on the skin samples taken by biopsy694). Histological sections of animals fed on the 1 -(chloromethyl)silatrane-containing diet showed no sharply-defined morphological changes in the epidermis.

The system includes various software packages for different applications (De Cresce, 1986). It allows immunostained histological sections to be represented as digitized images from which the optical densities of the DAB reaction product over a specific cell part or component (e.g., nucleus) can be quantitated. Bacus et al. (1988) have successfully quantified the estrogen receptor content in human breast tumors. The data showed excellent sensitivity and specificity.
