Capacitors. The outstandingly low dielectric loss of parylenes make them superior candidates for dielectrics in high quality capacitors. Furthermore, their dielectric constant and loss remain constant over a wide temperature range. In addition, they can be easily formed as thin, pinhole-free films. Kemet Flatkaps are fabricated by coating thin aluminum foil with Parylene N on both sides and winding the coated foils in pairs (62). 

Abstract High quality leads provide the foundation for the discovery of successful clinical development candidates, and therefore the identification of leads is an essential part of drug discovery. Many factors contribute to the quality of a lead, including biological, physicochemical, ADME, and PK parameters. The identification of high quality leads, which are needed for successful lead optimization, requires the optimization of all of these parameters. Parallel optimization of all parameters is the most efficient way to achieve the goal of lead identification. 

In principle, a de novo protein structure determination requires one round of 7 Candid cycles. This is realistic for projects where an essentially complete chemical shift list is available and much effort was made to prepare a complete high-quality input of NOESY peak lists. In practice, it turned out to be more efficient to start a first round of Candid analysis without excessive work for the preparation of the input peak list, using an slightly incomplete list of safely identifiable NOESY cross peaks, and then to use the result of the first round of Candid assignment and structure determination as additional information from which to prepare an improved, more complete NOESY peak list as input for a second round of 7 Candid cycles. 

Crime laboratory operations of high quality are candidates for such evaluations. As described earlier, the Institute has funded research projects to develop candidate management evaluation techniques. Such measures should be very helpful to all crime laboratories in evaluating their performance and effectiveness. These measures have already been tested in three sites and baseline data have been collected for a period of several months in these same locations.
