Hepatobiliary scintigraphy

Time of Examination. Hepatobiliary scintigraphy is started 5 min after the intravenous injection. Thereafter, scintigrams are taken at 10-min intervals up to 60 min. If the gallbladder is not visualized within 60 min, delayed images up to 4 h after administration of the radiotracer are obtained. 

Pediatric Dose. The amount of radioactivity for infants and children administered for hepatobiliary scintigraphy is based on body weight, using the scaling factors given in Appendix 1, Table A1.2. The minimum value of the scaling factor is 0.1, since activities below 10% of the value of the adult radioactivity have resulted in poor image quality.

Laparoscopy is always indicated if an abdominal clinical picture has not been clarified or a hepatobiliary disease could not be defined by non-invasive or minimally invasive procedures (such as sonography, CT, ERC, scintigraphy, MRI). (S. tab. 7.12) (245, 253, 276, 294)... 

Scintigraphy can be indicated for differentiating an adenoma from FNH (combination of colloid scintigram and hepatobiliary sequential scintigraphy) and for diagnosing haemangioma. (13)... 

Scintigraphy Hepatobiliary sequential scintigraphy imaging using T-etifenin can often provide additional information about tumour localization. Fluoro-2-deoxy-D glucose PET may be helpful in the diagnosis of perihilar CCC or metastasis.
