Heat exchanger coiled

Steam can be contaminated with soHds even when carryover is not occurring. Contaminated spray attemperating water, used to control superheated steam temperature at the turbine inlet, can introduce soHds into steam. A heat exchanger coil may be placed in the boiler mud dmm to provide attemperation of the superheated steam. Because the mud dmm is at a higher pressure than superheated steam, contamination will occur if leaks develop in the cod. [Pg.265]

Battery, heat exchange coil A device used to either heat or cool air in a duct run. [Pg.1416]

Heating coil A heat exchange coil (battery) containing the primary heat trans fer fluid positioned in a run of ductwork where it passes its heat to the secondary fluid. [Pg.1447]

Run-around coils. Where the incoming and outgoing air streams are remote it is necessary to use a run-around coil to couple them. A pumped liquid to a heat exchanger in the cold stream connects a heat exchange coil in the warm exhaust. The effectiveness can be up to 60 per cent. [Pg.267]

The correct and efficient operation of any plant requires full flow at all times through the heat exchangers. Air and water filters need to be kept clean. Finned coils, especially outdoor condenser coils, must be cleaned frequently. The water side of heat exchanger coils should be cleaned of any accumulations of scale or algae as soon as a change in working conditions shows that they are getting dirty. [Pg.339]

PYROCAT A steam cracking process for converting petroleum into light olefins in which a catalyst is deposited on the walls of the heat-exchanger coils in the cracking furnace. The... [Pg.219]

The inlet air duct, starting at the roof level of the cubicle, leads to the inlet air flap, inlet air filters, and steam heated heat exchanger coils to heat the inlet air. This heated air is directed through a 1/2 supporting grid and 100 mesh screen on the bottom of the product container. [Pg.160]

It is clear that not all possible contaminants can be tested, but sources of contamination must be considered and tests run on the reaction in the presence of the most likely occurring ones. An approach to evaluating the problem of contamination is in the setting-up of a plant material matrix [1]. An example of potential contaminants to be considered, and sometimes overlooked, includes the heat transfer fluids to evaluate the consequences of heat exchanger, coil, or jacket failures. Contaminants which are introduced by other sources, for example, air (oxygen), carbon dioxide, water, metals, lubricants, and greases must also be considered. Also, the effects of chemicals which are used elsewhere in the plant and which could be introduced by mistake should be evaluated and perhaps tested. The possible contaminants in the reactor feeds must also be considered. [Pg.136]

Figure 2.6 illustrates the main components of an airhandler system, including fans, heat exchanger coils, dampers, ducts, and instruments. The system operates as follows Outside air is admitted by the outside air damper (OAD-05) and is then mixed with the return air from the return air damper (RAD-04). The resulting mixed air is filtered, heated, or cooled, and humidified or dehumidified as required. The resulting supply air is then transported to the conditioned zones (groups of offices) by the variable-volume supply fan station. [Pg.150]

PYROCAT A steam cracking process for converting petroleum into light olefins in which a catalyst is deposited on the walls of the heat-exchanger coils in the cracking furnace. The catalyst is a proprietary promoter on an alumina-calcia base. Based on the THERMOCAT process, PYROCAT was developed jointly by Veba Oel and Linde from 1996 but has not yet been commercialized. [Pg.296]

The stirred tank reactor is essentially just what it says—a tank into which the reactants flow and out of which the products are taken and which is stirred to keep the contents as uniform as possible. It may also be equipped with a heat exchange coil or a heating or cooling jacket. It is also known by various other names and abbreviations, such as C.F.S.T.R., C.S.T.R., or C-star, Its virtues are its simplicity of construction and ease of temperature control, for stirring is intended to destroy any local non uniformities such as... [Pg.156]

The overall heat transfer coefficient is composed of a minimum of three contributions, the major of which is the coefficient of heat transfer from gas-liquid phase to heat exchanger-wall. Pollard and Topiwala (35) reported values of heat transfer coefficients in gas-liquid bioreactors for various configurations of heat exchanger (coil, jacket). These authors questioned the application of currently used correlations obtained in liquid media... [Pg.369]

Fan Coil - A heat exchanger coil in which a fluid such as water is circulated and a fan blows air over the coil to distribute heat or cool air to the different rooms. [Pg.349]

Refrigerated Freeboard Device—A low-temperature heat exchange coil located in the degreaser freeboard zone, immediately above the water-cooled condensers. The device maintains a dense, cold-air mass above the solvent vapor, which reduces the loss of vapors from the unit. [Pg.46]

The effective baffle width for a heat exchanger coil is 0.5 X the projected area of the coil. [Pg.281]
