Hazard studies Chazop

The hazard study must look for potential hazards in the EUC operating with its basic process control system (BPCS). Generally, control system failures are seen as human operator errors, loop control faults or sequencing/interlock failures. However, it is also necessary for the hazard study to consider possible failure modes of any computer/PLC systems used in the BPCS or in supervisory control. This type of study falls within the scope of what are known as computer hazops or chazops . Section 3.13.3 contains some introductory notes on chazops. [Pg.74]

CHAZOP Computer HAZard and OPerability study to assess the threats and their control between Automation Systems, their users and operational environments, and the manufacturing process. CHAZOP studies for IT systems concenti ate on the threats and then-controls affecting data integrity. [Defined for this book.]... [Pg.942]

PHA Como is ESC s internally developed softvyare package for facilitation of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies including HAZOP, CHAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIMOPs and more. [Pg.304]

CHAZOP a Computer Hazard and Operability study. A structured qualitative study of control and safety systems to access and minimize the effect of failures of its subsystems impacting the plant or affecting the ability of an operator to take corrective action Chemical Hazard Analysis (CHA) a formal process for identifying and quantifying reactive chemical hazards... [Pg.442]

The diagram shows that progressive levels of Chazop study should accompany the hazard 1,2 and 3 levels of study for the process (or EUC). [Pg.105]
