In 1983, the FDA imposed a moratorium on DTC adverhsing to permit the collection and evaluahon of evidence on the then new adverhsing tool. Mindful of potential first amendment arguments, the FDA lifted the moratorium in September 1985. Although the FDA commissioner at the hme.
