Historically, physical evidence has taken on increasing importance in criminal matters. A French martini is typically a vodka martini, with the addition of Chambord Liqueur Royale de France, a black raspberry Cognac liqueur that also includes citrus, cinnamon, vanilla and French acacia honey. [Pg.204]

Guilt cramps my heart guilt that I did not see what they would do, that I lost Ned to them by a stupid trick, that I could not—did not—lift a finger to save him. The pain is real, but I would bear twice as much—bear all the pain in the world—if it would save my boy. But nothing now will do that, if Richard of Gloucester wills it otherwise. [Pg.193]

Then I could allow myself to know that Izzy was right, and I d lost fifteen years to loves that weren t loves, to men with only half a heart to give me, to tears and sometimes guilt and always loneliness, because, without letting myself know it, I knew they wouldn t want more than half of me, and that half was all I had to give. In our case, the prime robbery was a national program of aggrandizement at the expense of the peoples of other nations. As for the defendants part, was it necessary to show that they knew with absolute certainty that the weapon would be fired If it was proved that they had participated substantially in preparing the weapon, and that they knew it would be used in the holdup as a threat, was that not enough to prove their guilt as participants in the resulting crimes ... [Pg.125]

The conditions at Auschwitz were so horrible that it is utterly incredible to conclude that they were unknown to the defendants, the principal corporate directors, who were responsible for Farben s connection with the project.. . . The extreme cold, the inadequacy of the food, the rigorous nature of the work, the cruel treatment of the workers by their supervisors, combine to present a picture of horror which, I am convinced, has not been at all overdrawn by the prosecution and which is fully sustained by the evidence.. . . Nor can I agree with factual conclusions of the Tribunal which, in my opinion, misread the record in the direction of an exculpation even of moral guilt. The record of I.G.
