Growing location

The cotton plant parts investigated include bract, leaf, stem and bur. The ash fraction was taken as a reasonably accurate measure of the inorganic fraction. Bract has the highest ash fraction (ca. 18%), followed by leaf (ca. 16.5%), bur (ca. 7.5%) and stem (ca. 7.2%). The ash fraction of dried aqueous extracts of each of these plant parts was ca. 35% which is considerably higher than the ash fraction of the raw samples, was noted that high variations occur in the ash fraction of samples as a function of growing location and year of harvest. [Pg.329]

Rogers et al. (1998) reported alkamide levels in E. purpurea between 0.24 and 1.1 mg/g aerial parts for samples collected at various locations within Australia. Again, the growing location did not have a significant effect... [Pg.119]

A report24 of the alkaloids of the roots of A. carmiahaeli-Debx. describes the isolation and structure elucidation of "fuzi-line", C24H39NO7, m.p. 214-216"C., and the known bases aconitine (14), hypaconitine (12), mesaconitine (10), neoline (19), and song-orine (27). The alkaloid contents of these plants were found to vary considerably with growing location.25 From and n.m.r. [Pg.286]

Fatty acid profiles and lipid content were not affected by growing location. [Pg.269]

Another example of the use of analysis of variance is provided by Gough and Lantz (1950), who investigated the effect of variety and growing location on the niacin, thiamine, and riboflavin content of dried beans. Owing to difficulties in obtaining samples at harvest time, separate analyses were run to examine the effects of (1) localities and varieties... [Pg.204]

Conventional methods of sample selection involve identification of all sources of variance likely to be encountered in future analysis including sample source (growing location and season) and the range of composition in constituents or parameters to be tested. The most important factors that affect the behavior of solid samples are chemical composition, physical texture, bulk density. [Pg.292]

Grape pomace polyphenol composition is affected by many different factors. It is variety dependant [10-11] and, within the same variety, different parts have significantly different compositions. For example, the grape skins, have been found to be rich in anthocyanins, hydroxycinnamic acids, flavanols and flavonol glycosides, whereas the seed portion is a good source of gallic acid and flavanols [3, 11]. Polyphenol composition is also influenced by the growing location, climate, maturity and fermentation time [12]. [Pg.71]
