Coke deposition on Pt/A Oj is a very complicate phenomena. There is an initial rapid deposition that mainly affects the metallic function. That initial deposition produces a decreasing of the great initial hydrogenolytic activity. Tennison (7) also stated that the initial coke deposition is on the metal crystallites. Then the deposition is slower and at longer times or more severe conditions, the deposition of coke tends to occur on the acidic function, partly because the metallic function is almost completely covered, even it is not poisoned, as coke is not a poison for the reaction. It must be remembered that the catalyst has only 0.37% metal on a high surface area alumina. The coke increase its degree of stability with the severity of the operational conditions. [Pg.251]

In the tradition of the African Dogon tribe, Sirius is TVommo. Nommo is also the name of the three Great Initiates or happy astronomers of the Christ Brotherhood of Sirius. One of these is the prophet Idris or Enoch. This inseparable trio of honorable sages is reminiscent of the Three Principals in Royal Arch Freemasonry. ... [Pg.264]

The three Great Initiates of Sirius supposedly came to earth eighteen million years ago, bearing the threefold Light of Love. They inhabited Hyperborea, the fabled land of rebirth beyond the North Wind. These creatures from Sirius were amphibious men giving Sirius the soubriquet of the Land of the Fish. [Pg.264]

In the case of adsorption of Cs(l), the f(pK ) distributions (Figure 38.28) reveal relatively low adsorption constants since the maximal uptake of Cs(l) is not more than 10%. A maximal uptake of Sr(ll) depends on its concentration and it can reach up to 100% at 10 M, but at 10 M, it is between 35-70% depending on the specific surface area of oxides and their kind [14e], Additionally, adsorption of Sr(ll) is characterized by relatively great initial values at pH < 6 and non-steep enhancement at higher pH values (Figure 38.27b). This results in f(pK ) with a large peak at pK < 1 and a broad peak at pKn > 10 (Fig. 38.28). These differences in f(pK ) for Cs(l), Sr(ll) and Pb(ll) are linked to the differences in the form of cations (hydrated or not), composition of their shells with water molecules and the distributions of active smface sites most appropriate for adsorption of... [Pg.525]

Bubbles with a great initial radius should be avoided. A degassing cycle or a pulsed operation are suitable methods to remove bubbles beyond the optimum bubble radius of approximately 10 pm. [Pg.199]

There is a weight difference of almost 8% between hair dried at room temperature and at elevated temperature. Under some conditions, e.g., 2 hr at 110 C, the water loss from human hair is reversible and equalized by uptake from the atmosphere within a day. The water uptake is particularly great initially. Hence, dried hair must be stored in sealed vessels. The other possibility is to weigh out hair in equilibrium with the air. In this case the moisture content is generally around 7-8% [41]. [Pg.211]

The lack of interaction between different scientific communities resulted in the use of different terms for the processes involving milling, the terms usually not being explicitiy or precisely defined. Suryanarayana [5], in his extensive review, took a great initiative to define different terms in a separate section, the terms being mostly used by mechanical alloying community. In order to waive any ambiguity related to the terms used by different authors, the terms used in this chapter are briefly described. [Pg.28]

The passing of the liquid consecutively through die orifices 10,2 and S leads to uniform enerQr dissipation of the liquid and thus to uniform distribution of the liquid phase even at great initial velocity in the pipe 1. The experiments with an industrial apparatus show tiiat the degree of unevenness of this distributor is about 2%. [Pg.513]

In India, during the last 4 to 5 years, the Indian Institutes of Technology have made determined efforts in this direction. The Alumni, in particular those who are in United States as well as Entrepreneurs in India have taken great initiatives. Already for the 5 IITs contributions to the tune of about 200 million U.S. dollars have been received. Alumni have committed to raise between U.S. dollars 500 million and a billion in the next 10 years. Similarly the Indians in the United States, in particular the Alumni of the IIT system, have plans to raise one billion dollars to establish 4 or 5 Global Institutes of Science Technology in India. They have announced that 300 million dollars have already been raised for this purpose. [Pg.20]
