Granulating wounds

In another hospital (Gorky) the clinical tests of l-(chloromethyl)silatrane were carried out on 21 patients from 6 to 52 years of age. 14 of them had granulating wounds after thermal burns of 7—800 cm2 size, 4 patients displayed superficial burn wounds (1-15% of the body surface), 3 patients had wounds which were not healing where donor skin had been removed. Most granulating wounds were characteristic of abundant suppurative discharge and poorly-defined marginal epithelial-ization. [Pg.104]

Hydrocolloids are suitable for desloughing and for light to medium exuding wounds—but are contraindicated if an anaerobic infection is present. They have been used successfully in the treatment of chronic leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, minor burns, granulating wounds, and wounds exhibiting slough or necrotic tissue or wounds with moderate exudate, as well as skin barriers in the management of stoma. [Pg.1032]

Sheet formulations may be applied to exuding lesions including leg ulcers, pressure areas, donor sites, and most other granulating wounds, but for deeper cavity wounds and sinuses the ribbon packing is generally preferred. The dressing is easy to remove without causing pain or trauma, and leaves minimal residue on the surface of the wound. " ... [Pg.1033]

According to their physiological conditions, wounds can be classified into five types, each with a symbolic color code necrotic wounds, sloughy wounds, granulating wounds, epithelializing wounds, and infected wounds, which are characterized by their black, yellow, red, pink, and green appearances respectively. Figure 7.1 illustrates the five types of wounds. [Pg.93]

Fig. 25.4 Epithelialisation rate achieved by in vitro cultured autologous sprayed keratinocytes, when applied over granulating full-thickness wound or Permacol M paste on days 0, 3, and 6 and measured on days 14, 17 and 21. Keratinocytes applied over Permacol paste not only survived, but showed a steady increase in the extent of epithelialisation, whereas epithelialisation remained extremely low in the wounds where cells were sprayed directly onto the wound bed. Error bars represent standard deviation, ANOVA (Tukey Test), statistical significance atp<0.0S...
