Goniometry, contact-angle

The. -potential measurement is advantageously used as one of methods for characterization of various materials [12-15,17,18]. The potential measurements often supplement other analyses characterized surface properties, as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) [12,17], goniometry (contact angle) [12-18,26,28], atomic force microscopy (AFM) [12,14,17,27,28] or other measurements [14,17,28]. [Pg.209]

Thermal treatment of the nanocomposite film formed in Scheme 6 converts the amic acid groups of the film to imides (Eq. 15). In addition to evidence by IR spectroscopy, elhpsometry showed that the film thickness decreased by ca. 15% and contact angle goniometry showed that the film became more hydrophobic (see Table 2). This thermally treated film also did not have the pH dependent permeability of redox-active ions previously described for dendrimer/Gantrez films on gold substrates [55]. [Pg.34]

The SAMs on a gold substrate of terthiophenes (219), where X-R-T3 is either a thiol (220) or a dithio (221) anchoring group were characterized by ellipsometry, contact angle goniometry, IR spectroscopy, XPS and cyclic voltametry. 220 organized in a few minutes... [Pg.197]

The as is glass slides were not hydrophilic at all, however, the AGP-coated glass slides displayed a significant wettability as shown in the contact angle goniometry data of Fig. 2. [Pg.98]

Reflection goniometry showed that all fullerene Ceo layers were relatively highly hydrophobic. The continuous and micropattemed layers had similar water drop contact angles ranging from 95.3 + 3.1° to 100.6 + 6.8°. [Pg.187]

In our research all zeta potential values are always complemented with contact angle measurement by goniometry and determination of surface roughness and surface morphology by AFM, by spectroscopy analyses or other techniques. [Pg.225]

Surface energy is most commonly quantified using contact angle goniometry. Wetting is quantitatively defined with reference to a liquid droplet resting on a solid surface, as shown in fig. 7.5. The tensions at the three-phase contact point are indicated such that SW represents the solid/vapor interface, LA is the liquid/vapor... [Pg.146]

Tribological properties of several SAMs have been stndied. Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) was prepared on a single-crystal silicon wafer (112). Strnctnre and morphology characterizations were done using contact-angle goniometry, ellipsometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and AFM. It was observed that the SAM of OTS on the silicon wafer was quite smooth and homogeneous. Due to the wear of... [Pg.155]
