Each chapter contains five case studies, increasing in complexity from those we would expect first-year students to complete (Level 1) through to cases designed for fourth-year/pre-registration students (Level M). The chapters have been designed to follow approximately the British National Formulary chapters for ease of use. Case study scenarios include both community and hospital pharmacy situations as suited to the disease and pharmaceutical care provision. In a number of cases, abbreviations have been used and the editors have taken the decision not to provide a glossary of terms as we felt this to be another learning opportunity. 

The Computer Programs section. Chapter 5, describes the two primary computer programs on the diskettes accompanying this Handbook. POLYPROG is a program which implements the recommended procedures of Chapter 3. POLYDATA provides an easy method of accessing the data contained in the many data bases. Chapter 6, contains the Appendices. The sections included are Glossary of Terms, Standard Polymer Abbreviations, Nomenclature, Units and Conversion Factors, and References. 

There are four appendixes a list of references, glossary of terms, list of abbreviations and list of units.

This book hopefully retains only a portion of the problems which have complicated its organization. These have included literature variations in definitions and in polymer nomenclature such as the names for the nylons. As a key for the reader, we have provided a glossary of terms for symbols, abbreviations, and for polymer identification. 

There are three types of entries in this Encyclopedia regular articles, definition entries, and descriptions of software packages along with a brief feature on the respective vendor. All articles essentially have the same general structure abbreviations, glossary of terms, main text, related articles, and... 

Why is it so important to have a glossary of analytical terms Because there are so many different acronyms, abbreviations, and incorrectly used terms , that even specialists sometimes have problems in understanding each other. A glossary is like a dictionary with the terms being the words in the vocabulary. Unfortrmately not all words are found in one source. This chapter is a compilation of the most used terms.
