As shown in Table 10.1, the solubility of the drug is higher in acidic aqueous media and in methanol compared to the other media listed. Several HPLC vial types were evaluated, including borosilicate glass, amber glass, silanized glass, and polypropylene HPLC vials. Sample solutions were prepared and aliquots were transferred to the vials for analysis. Six sample solutions in each diluent were analyzed per type of vial. Experiments were conducted such that the residence time for the sample solution in each vial type was approximately the same. [Pg.243]

It is apparent that all glass and other apparatus used for the preparation of derivatives must be perfectly clean in order to prevent contamination. If septa are used to close reaction vessels, they should be used repeatedly only with caution in order that substances accidentally adsorbed on the septum do not cause the same difficulties. The surface of glass vessels is modified in special instances only when the reagents used for the derivatives are extremely sensitive to the activity of the glass. Silanization is a common modification of the surface of glass vessels. It is performed, e.g., by treatment with a 5% solution of dichlorodimethylsilane in toluene [22]. The silanized glass is then rinsed with methanol and dried. Other silanization agents can also be applied. [Pg.21]

In this work, we wish to elucidate the role of the glass/silane and silane/resin covalent interfacial bonds in adhesion and to evaluate their contribution to the resistance of the interface to degradation by water. Therefore, a series of aminosilanes with increasing resin-... [Pg.158]

Rayon and nylon are the main fibers with which RFL dips func-tion well directly. For polyester and glass, the textiles require a special treatment, usually involving a polyisocyanate and a reactive silane respectively, to afford appropriate levels of RFL adhesion. In the glass-silane case, the mechanistic contribution is almost surely one of strong adsorption and attachment through the silane s organofunctional end with reactive R-F species. [Pg.266]
