Geographical position system

This example is offered for illustration only. Modern precision agriculture utilizes geographical positioning systems (GPS) for sampling and for determining fertilizer needs. See, for example, the following Web site http //edis.ifas.ufl.edu/BODY SS402 (as of April 22, 2002). 

The primary objective of establishing SEALs is to protect crew members from adverse health effects—particularly to the respiratory and central nervous systems— from exposures to the combustion gases and chlorine. The Navy will use SEALs as one of many parameters in its Submarine Escape and Rescue Expert System model. That model takes into account several additional parameters, such as geographical position and depth of the submarine, number and medical condition of the crew members, ability to communicate with search and rescue forces, and compartment temperature, and is used by the senior officer to assist in making a decision on whether to escape from the disabled submarine.

The above navigation and positioning systems allow positioning within approximately 1 m and a repeatability of 1 m. This accuracy is prerequisite for the usefulness of the geographical information database system with individual targets.

Figure 11.13 shows the Ah balance for different geographic positions in the northern hemisphere (7). These curves allow calculation of a compensating index composed of the ratio of capacity of the critical system to the Ah annual balance. This ratio is therefore a comparative value for the necessary storage capacity.
