Gene Activity Profile

A gene activity profile is a collection of quantitatively determined levels of gene products, found in one tissue or cell type, which is characteristic of the tissue, a disease process, a hormone response, a pharmaceutical intervention, etc.

Genomics has provided a vast amount of information linking gene activity with disease. However, some expressed genes lead to several different protein species, depending on splicing forms and cell-specific expression patterns.
