Two approaches currently seem open. The first is directed toward conjugated polymers. Here substituted systems may hold potential. Cyclopol3nnerization is a viable method of synthesis of substituted polyacetylenes. Likewise, chemical modification of polyacetylene itself may have potential. The preparation of polyacetylenes by elimination reactions from precursor polymers needs more attention. The second approach is toward non-conju-gated polymers containing aromatic functionalities little work has been done in this area. Much creative chemistry remains to be explored and it will most likely involve new monomers and polymers. ... 

Self-Aligned Gate Polymer Field-Effect Transistors... 

Faradaie reaetions tend to oeeur when earbon material is modified with eonju-gated polymers or with pseudoeapaeitive additives like Ru02 and MnO (Gimenez et al. 2012 Sugino et al. 2009). Metal oxides have usually high resistanee therefore, oxide powders in eleefrode layer are often modified with pure, SWCNTs, or CNTs. This turns them hybrid aetuators, where redox and non-redox behavior appear...

In this chapter, a detailed description is given of these intriguing optical properties of certain polythiophene derivatives, and their analogy with chromic effects found in other 7r-conjugated (polydiacetylenes) and or-conju-gated polymers (polysilanes) is discussed. In order to explain these transitions, various molecular mechanisms are described. Finally, potential applications of these interesting optical effects are presented.
