Mucosa, gastric glycosphingolipids

Structures of the glycosphingolipids characterized from hog and dog gastric mucosa. [Pg.152]

Application of buffered tetrahydrofuran extraction to gastric mucosa, followed by careful examination of the aqueous phase for various glycosphingolipids, indicated that this phase contained sialoglycosphingolipids and considerable quantities of neutral glycosphingolipids (22). These were separated from the acidic glycosphingolipids by DEAE-Sephadex column chromatography (23). [Pg.156]

Examination of the neutral glycolipids in the aqueous fraction of a buffered tetrahydrofuran extract of dog gastric mucosa indicated presence of glycosphingolipids containing significant amounts of N-acetylgalactosamine, but only traces of fucose (26). [Pg.156]

A new group of complex glycosphingolipids has been isolated from hog gastric mucosa. Four compounds, each containing 12—14 sugar residues but of similar composition, were isolated and were found to be fucolipids with blood-group (A + H) activities. The structures of these four compounds have been established by conventional methods (14)—(17). ... [Pg.491]

A sulphated neolactotetraosylceramide isolated from hog gastric mucosa was characterized as (19) by conventional procedures. A unique D-gluco-sphingolipid pattern which has not been previously encountered in any type of tissue or cell has been seen in chicken egg-yolk. The structures were determined and the major ones were found to be NeupiVAc -> o-Galp - ceramide, NeupAAc lactosyl ceramide, and NeupAAc NeupAAc -> lactosyl -> ceramide. The only other neutral glycosphingolipid was D-galactosylceramide. [Pg.495]
