Gas leak detection

Safety awareness. Technicians must be familiar with and adhere to relevant safety regulations. These regulations include OSHA guidelines (trip and accident hazards), HAZMAT regulations related to the disposal of toxic materials, local fire and National Electrical Codes, and gas leak detection procedures for both natural gas and hydrogen. ... [Pg.60]

Figure 28.14 Remote open-path TOLAS measurement, using a hand-held instrument. The data displayed are for simulated gas leak detection, measured from (a) a brick wall at distance 21 ft (b) a grassy embankment at 22 ft and (c) a hedge at 17 ft. The arrows indicate the nozzle release of CH4. Adapted from Frish et at, SPIE 4199-05, 2000, with permission of the International Society for Optical Engineering... Most industrial hygiene air monitors in the semiconductor industry are used for flammable and toxic gas leak detection (see Ch. 11, Toxic Gas Monitoring). However, some facilities are also using continuous monitoring systems to ... [Pg.239]

Process gas is not the only flow that the controller can monitor for control purposes. Cabinet ventilation flow is also an important parameter and the automatic controller usually monitors this parameter and will shutdown the cabinet system if the air flow through the cabinet is too small. Other signals that should shutdown the entire cabinet include, fire, heat, smoke, or flame detected inside the cabinet, or gas leak detected inside the cabinet. Often cabinet control systems are designed to shutdown if any of these situations occur in the nearby area, or if a separate safety monitoring system sends the cabinet a signal to do so. [Pg.511]

The volatile liquid ethyl mercaptan, C2H6S, is one of the most odoriferous substances known. It is sometimes added to natural gas to make gas leaks detectable. How many C2H6S molecules are contained in a 1.0 /xL sample The density of liquid ethyl mercaptan is 0.84 g/mL. [Pg.75]
