Once HyperChem calciilates potential energy, it can obtain all of th c forces on the n uclei at negligible addition a I expen se, I h is allows for rapid optimi/ation of equilibrium and tran sitiori-state geometries and th e possibility of com put in g force con stan ts, vibra-tiorial modes, and molecular dynamics trajectories. [Pg.33]

Th c fun ction al form for bon d stretch in g in HlOa, as in CHARMM, is quadratic only and is identical to that shown in equation (1 1) on page I 75. Th e bond stretch in g force con stan ts are in units of... [Pg.193]

The default parameters for bond stretching are an ec iiilibriiim bond length an d a stretch in g force eon starit. fb e fun etion al form isjiist that of the. M.M+ force field including a correction for cubic stretches. The default force constant depends only on the bond... [Pg.209]

Stain (ASTMD1328). This test measures the amount of stain on paper or other ceUulosic materials by asphalt. Variations of the cigarette paper stain procedure include the Barber stain, usually conducted at 54.4°C and 3.9 MN (400 g-force). Talc stain tests are also used. [Pg.371]

The cyliudricaTsection provides clarification under high centrifugal gravity. In some cases, the pool should be shallow to maximize the G-force for separation. In other cases, when the cake layer is too thick inside the cylinder, the settled solids—especially the finer particles at the cake surface—entrain into the fast-moving liqmd stream above, which eventually ends up in the centrate. A slightly deeper pool... [Pg.1732]

Very little can be done to prevent the coupling from retaining the impurities. The g forces in a coupling are very high, and the oil dam built in the sleeve configuration prevents the impurities from going over it. [Pg.613]

Bed shape is conical and depends on rotor angles and g force applied. Bold type indicates male-type fitting. [Pg.43]

In this chapter, we will show how nonequilibrium methods can be used to calculate equilibrium free energies. This may appear contradictory at first glance. However, as was shown by Jarzynski [1, 2], nonequilibrium perturbations can be used to obtain equilibrium free energies in a formally exact way. Moreover, Jarzynski s identity also provides the basis for a quantitative analysis of experiments involving the mechanical manipulation of single molecules using, e.g., force microscopes or laser tweezers [3-6]. [Pg.171]

Centrifugation tubes of these materials wiU withstand phenol/chloroform solutions and 12,000 g forces. [Pg.464]

In general, the SSRIs have a more tolerable side effect profile than the tricyclic antidepressants with their anticholinergic effects. Review of the rate that subjects in the controlled studies discontinued a SSRI because of adverse effects provides some perspective on how well tolerated the medications are, although the specifics may vary according to dosage and design (e.g., forced titration) and are not directly comparable. The rate of discontinuation was reported to be 12% (4/48) for fluoxetine (Emslie et ah, 1997), 9.7% for paroxetine (Keller et ah, 2001), 13% (12/92) for sertraline (March et ah, 1998), and 33% (19/57) (Riddle et ah, 2001) and 7.9% (5/63) for fluvoxamine (Walkup et ah, 2001). [Pg.276]

To overcome some of these limitations, a fixed dose-titration schedule can be implemented in the beginning of a flexible-dose trial in order to reach a minimum effective dose for each patient, followed by a flexible dose-titration schedule. Use of titration points, anchored to a clinical assessment (e.g. forced titration to the next level in the case of Clinical Global Impression severity scores of > 3), makes the titration schedule and the results more homogeneous and tends to unify investigators judgments (for details see Martenyi et al 2002). [Pg.193]
