FutureGen project

FutureGen is a major IGCC project, backed by the US government and intended to last 10 years, that has three key objectives  [Pg.59]

Recently, the United States launched the FutureGen Project (Figure 3.4). FutureGen is an initiative to build the world s first integrated carbon dioxide sequestration-hydrogen... [Pg.107]

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has started the billion- dollar, FutureGen project to demonstrate a 275-megawatt prototype plant that cogenerates electric power and hydrogen and sequesters 90% of the C02. [Pg.285]

Capturing and storing 200 to 400 Mt C annually by 2050 is a huge task. On the order of a thousand projects the size of the first two C02 geological storage demonstration projects (discussed below, in the subsection CCS Demonstration Projects ) would be required. These projects each capture and store about 300,000 metric tons C/yr. This is also the scale of CCS planned for the proposed FutureGen Project (see below). [Pg.101]

The Department of Energy s FutureGen project seeks to design and construct the world s first coal-fueled plant to produce electricity and hydrogen with zero emissions. An artist s rendering ofa possible design is shown. U.S. Department of Ener, Officeof Fossil Ener ... [Pg.343]

In 2003 the Department of Energy announced FutureGen, also known as the Integrated Sequestration and Hydrogen Research Initiative. This is a 10-year, billion dollar project to produce a 275-MW prototype plant that will cogenerate electricity and hydrogen and sequester 90% of the C02. [Pg.199]

FutureGen, a project involving a utilities consortium funded by subsidies from the U.S. government, hopes to build a plant in Mattoon,... [Pg.69]
