Future elements

Super heavy elements (SHE) and possible future elements may someday be discovered beyond element 118.

Some expanded periodic tables of chemical elements have been developed that include future elements up to the proton number 152 or 202. Someday the existence of new heavy elements may be realized if the United States once again takes the lead in particle physics and related research. 

On the other hand, the voyager may also feel that he possesses supernormal powers of perception and movement, that he can perform miracles, extraordinary feats of bodily control etc. The Tibetan book definitely attributes paranormal faculties to the consciousness of the Bardo voyager and explains it as due to the fact that the Bardo-consciousness encompasses future elements as well as past. Hence clairvoyance, telepathy, ESP, etc. are said to be possible. Objective evidence does not indicate whether this sense of increased perceptiveness is real or illusory. We therefore leave this as an open question, to be decided by empirical evidence. 

An anticipatory system is one in which information is sent from an element in the early stages of a sequence of events to a nonacting element that will arise in that sequence. The information sent ahead prepares the future element to function based on information arising in advance of the normal sequence of events. The unmanifested element anticipates its ultimate manifestation in the sequence. An anticipatory system has been modeled by Kier and Cheng94 using the dynamic characteristics of cellular automata. A concentration of an intermediate product influences the creation of a supplemental enzyme that enhances the competence of an enzyme downstream. This anticipation of a future event creates a condition in which the concentration of a later substrate is suppressed, a property characteristic of the system.

In an article pubhshed in 1866, Newlands tried to answer the criticisms that had been leveled at him in the course of his fateful presentation to the London Chemical Society. The accompanying table published by Newlands represents the first time that he arranged chemical groups arranged in vertical columns, and once again, the ordering of the elements follows a numerical order with the exception of three reversals (Ce and La with Zr, U with Sn, and Te with 1). Newlands responded to a criticism that he had not left any gaps and that this would be a problem when future elements were discovered ...
