Fuse quality

The laboratory fusing method was developed on basis of procedures devised by L. Ho, IBM, Boulder. J. Witt and F. Rodgers, IBM, Tucson provided chemical paper analysis and fuse quality measurements. [Pg.490]

A more complete description of the fusing process, discontinuous work process (flat) fusing presses and continuous work process fusing presses, as well as fusing quality problems and their prevention can be found in the book Industrial Cutting of Textile Materials (Vijumsone-Nemes, 2012). [Pg.242]

A good quality of 2inc chloride must be used, and it is an advantage to fuse it immediately before use. [Pg.41]

To study the lowest pressure region from about 10 MPa, the acceleration loading pulse method previously used by Setchell [88S01] has been employed. In this case the slowly rising stress pulse from high quality fused quartz is in the form of a ramp in pressure. Hence, a continuous response can be determined to stresses up to about 3 GPa. [Pg.108]

Metallic Sr and Ba are best prepared by high-temperature reduction of their oxides with Al in an evacuated retort or by small-scale electrolysis of fused chloride baths. They have limited use as getters, and a Ni-Ba alloy is used for sparkplug wire because of its high emissivity. Annual production of Ba metal is about 20-30 tonnes worldwide and the 1991 price about 80-140/kg depending on quality. [Pg.111]

Miniaturised SEC uses small fused-silica packed-capillary columns (0.32-1 mm i.d., 30-200cm) instead of relatively large metal columns. Miniaturisation puts stringent requirements on the quality of SEC columns. Advantages of ptSEC are (i) much smaller amounts of (toxic, expensive) solvents (ii) smaller samples (iii) better and easier temperature control (iv) increased detector compatibility (e.g. MS) and (v) greatly reduced... [Pg.261]

Materials. Unless otherwise stated, all chemicals and solvents were analytical grade materials (Fluka and B.D.H.), and were used as received. The water used for washing and preparation of aqueous electrolyte solutions was deionized and freshly double-distilled in a fused-silica still. All liquids are filtered (0.22 pm Millipore or Fluoropore filters) prior to introduction into the glass cell. The mica used throughout was Best Quality FS/GS grade 2 Muscovite Ruby mica, mined in Kenya (Mica and Micanite Ltd., U.K.). [Pg.230]

Three kinds of PAV films was prepared using methoxy pendant precursors. The chemical structures and synthetic route of the PAV films used in this study are shown in Fig. 19. The details of synthesis of the methoxy pendant precursors have been described in refs. 29 and 30. The precursors were soluble in conventional organic solvents, for example, chloroform, dichloromethane, benzene and so on. The precursor polymer thin films were spin-coated on fused quartz substrates from the chloroform solutions. The precursor films were converted to PAV films by the heat-treatment at 250 0 under a nitrogen flow with a slight amount of HC1 as a catalyst. This method provided high performance PAV films with excellent optical quality. [Pg.322]

Prices for individual products vary gready with volume, purity, and optical quality. In 1994 the price for a 1000-mL fused quartz beaker was about 100, whereas the prices for a 10 x 10 x 5 cm3 plate ranged from 125 to 5000, depending on the optical homogeneity, inclusions, and transmission. Commercial-grade tubing, 25—30-mm OD, sold for 45— 90/m and ultrapure 10-mm rod for 375/m ( 2160/kg). [Pg.511]

The cephalosporins are semisynthetic -lactams derived from cephalosporin C, a natural antibiotic. Their active basic nucleus consists of a six-membered dihydrothiazine ring fused to a -lactam ring (Fig. 3.3.2). Cephalosporins have some desirable quality characteristics that are generally deficient in penicillins. The popularity and usefulness of cephalosporins results from their resistance to many... [Pg.50]
