Fundamentals of Engineering exam

The FE exam contains 180 multiple-choice questions and is split into a morning session (120 questions) and an afternoon session (60 questions), each lasts four hours, with a one-hour lunch break in between. [Pg.61]

The morning session is the same for everyone. For the afternoon session, you will be asked during registration to select the module (options are listed below) that best corresponds to your undergraduate degree  [Pg.61]

Let us take a look at the content of the Morning Session. It has 120 questions in 12 topic areas as listed below in detail with the approximate percentage of the test content following the topic area. [Pg.62]

Integral calculus D. Roots of equations E Differential equations [Pg.62]

Analytic geometry C. Matrix operations E. Vector analysis G. Differential calculus [Pg.62]

To prepare students for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (that is becoming more important for the outcome-based ABET 2000 criteria) and to facilitate multiple-choice tests, about 250 multiple-choice problems are included in the end-of-chapter problem sets. They are placed under the title Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Problems for easy recognition. These problems are intended to check the understanding of fundamentals and to help readers avoid common pitfalls. [Pg.13]

Use Fundamentals of Engineering exam as a motivator for interdisciplinary study within engineering... [Pg.107]

Fault-tree analysis (FTA), 866-867 FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam, 834-838 Feasibility estimates. See Order-of-magnitude estimates,... [Pg.971]

The professors, like I said, are always willing to sit down and talk to you... [and] every semester before the fundamentals of engineering exam civil and environmental professors will come out and spend their evenings tutoring students. (FAMU-FSU White female student)... [Pg.137]

See a lot of this stuff I think that it s left up to us to find or to figure out. I think as a whole the teachers just teach their class. They don t really tell you about the department or [that] this is what you have to do to get from the starting to the ending. It s like they just [say] this is my class I m going to teach this. I mean that s how I feel, like a lot of it is left up to the students to discover on their own. Most of the stuff I find out, I find out from my friends. Like there s an exam [the Fundamentals of Engineering exam] we have to take and you re supposed to take that closer to when you graduate. (FAMU-FSU White male student)... [Pg.137]

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Problems 2-138 The heat conduction equation in a medium is given in its simplest form as... [Pg.146]

Rummaging ihroogh the attic, I happened upon my old college textbooks. Much to my dismay, these treasured volumes, elucidating the principles of mass transfer, fluid flow, and differential calculus, seemed slightly incomprehensible and rather irrelevant. After 15 years of applying the fundamentals of chemical engineering in a dozen refineries, I still did not feel ready for that final exam in advanced thermodynamics. [Pg.276]

Oral examinations take an active approach to assessment of student learning. They provide insight into how students understand and relate concepts. Furthermore, practicing engineers are faced daily with the realtime need to apply rational arguments based on fundamental concepts. By using oral exams, it is possible to assess a student s ability to construct sound conceptual arguments. [Pg.160]
